Linda's Mystery

My neighbor is a fantastic gardener. She seems to know everything about plants and seeds and weeds and all-around lawn care.

But . . . she doesn't know the name of this plant.

And of course, neither do I. Do you? Until I can figure out what they're called, I've named them Linda's Mystery.

She gave me the seeds for it last fall, and here they are growing in my yard where there was nothing but weeds last year.

i have a linda too, only her name is barbara :) i don't know what these flowers are, but they kind of remind me of foliage i used to see a lot when i lived in the west indies. i'd better ask barbara and get back to you.

well, even barbara doesn't know, so this is truly a mystery plant. she said it kind of looks like it belongs to the begonia genus.

I have it my yard too! It is balsam and the really nice thing about it is that it reseeds so you don't have to replant. I really like it - whatever it's called:)
